Your Health Matters



Every Friday at 9:30am thedailyblu.com airs Your Health Matters, a program dedicated to sharing important public health information about health prevention, protection, and health promotion, hosted by Tracy Trypuc, RN. Over the last few months, a few members of the Adelphi faculty have been featured on the program. Below is a small collection of our faculty’s contributions to supporting health education.
Meghan McPherson
Meghan McPherson, the Assistant Director for the Center for Health Innovation (CHI) and the Program Coordinator for the Graduate Program in Emergency Management, appeared on the show earlier this year to discuss personal preparedness in times of emergency. She discusses the importance of preparedness not only in hurricane season, but the rest of the year as well. She also provides resources which people can use to prepare and build their emergency kits.
 
Dr. Stephen Shore and Dr. Pavan Antony
Dr. Stephen Shore, clinical assistant professor, and Dr. Pavan Anthony, assistant professor, of the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, appeared to discuss their new book College for Students with Disabilities: We Do Belong. The book features the personal stories of individuals with disabilities who describe both the challenges and successes of their time in higher education.

Patricia Facquet
Earlier this month, Patricia Facquet, clinical assistant professor in the College of Nursing and Public Health, went on the show to discuss current issues regarding vaccinations and NYS requirements.

Anne Marie Skvarla
On World Stroke Day, October 29, Anne Marie Skvarla, director of the Hy Weinberg Center for Communication Disorders, covered speech, language and hearing disorders, as well as the many signature programs offered at the Hy Weinberg Center.
